I can understand your frustration, it comes from wanting to get hold of Empire and play it, I know lots of other people feel that way too. So don't worry I
won't take your more 'enthusiastic' comments to heart!
The long and short of it is that we do indeed make Empire for you, the fans, but we also make it for ourselves. The team at CA have put in thousands of man
hours, years of research and work, weekends and nights into making Empire what it is. Therefore we have the privelage of deciding 'when it's done'.
We expect quality from our games because we understand fans expect it to. So if we feel the demo needs more polish, it needs more polish. It's not hype or
marketing, just development professionalism and a genuine love for our product.
Secondly, to address your point on selling units, I'll be blunt and say yes of course we want to sell units! If a large enough number of people dont buy
Empire, we dont get to make any more games, as well as being critically acclaimed our titles have to be comercially viable, there's nothing evil or
corporate about that, it just means we can carry on doing what we love.
I understand your desire to get at Empire as soon as possible, the wait is almost over and I hope you'll feel it's been worth it.
First I'd like to thank you, that you've taken your time and replied on my comment, I wouldn't have expected that at all, since I can imagine how
hard you're working because the release isn't very far away...
Probably you're right with all the things you mentioned in your reply, concerning Empire as your product, and you wanting to make it as good as it can even
get, which I know the community, including me, will be happy about, once we realize the hard work you've put into the game... maybe I was overreacting a
little!
The only thing that made me post my comment was, that I didn't quite understand why you don't just release a demo for the community to enjoy... it
wouldn't matter in any way, if the demo wouldn't be an as great experience as the actual game itself! I've spoken to loads of people, especially on
this forum, and I know that they feel the same way as I do. And even if the demo would've been a lot worse, the joy at last would've even been even
greater...
Thank you for your reply, and I hope that this game will be as good an experience for you (business-wise) as it will be for me to enjoy!
Greetings, Alex!
P.S.: Don't mind spelling mistakes, English is not my mothertoung! :-D
